Ministry

Altar Servers (adult and youth)

This ministry involves serving at the altar for weekend Masses, funerals and special liturgies throughout the year.  Please call the Parish Office 781-3656. Training will be provided.

Cherubim

The Cherubim is a group who clean the church every two months on Saturdays 9-11 am. Volunteers are always welcome. Coordinated by Paul Evans. .

Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist

If you would like to assist in the distribution of communion at weekend Masses and at special liturgies training will be provided.

Lectors

If you are interested in proclaiming the Word at Mass on the weekends and special liturgies training will be provided.

Ushers

We are always in need of help with the collection.  Coordinated by Joe Dowd.

Greeters (Ministers of Hospitality)

Help welcome people to the Cathedral for Mass or special events with a smile by distributing a hymnal or other handout for that event. Contact the Parish Office or a greeter at Mass.

Parish Pantry

The Food Pantry is open on Wednesdays 9-11 am (except in August). Donations of nonperishable food may be dropped off on the weekend in church after all the Masses or during the week after the 12:10 daily Mass. If you are in need of food, enter from the parking lot rear door of the Cathedral. Coordinated by Paul Evans.

Loaves & Fishes Soup Kitchen

St. Michael’s team of volunteers provide food, cook and serve meals the 2nd Saturday of the odd number months at South Congregational Church, Springfield at 4pm. Volunteers are always welcome. Coordinated by John Korona. Please call the rectory for more information.

Take and Eat

The goal of this group is to help fill the weekend void of the public Meals on Wheels program by preparing and delivering Saturday hot dinners to about 60 people. Approximately 40 volunteers are divided into teams who shop, cook, bake, pack and deliver. This group meets on the third Saturday of the month at 9am in the Bishop Marshall Center kitchen.  Virginia Padilla, Coordinator

Prayer Shawl Ministry

If you knit or crochet, help us create Prayer Shawls for someone who might be going through a difficult time and might appreciate the comfort of a prayer shawl. Coordinated by Mary Jeanne Tash.

Music Ministry: Cathedral Choir of Boys and Adults

The choir is open by audition to any adult or boy throughout the diocese. The choir strives to keep God as the center of worship, to serve our bishop, the Diocese and all who enter the Cathedral church.

The Cathedral Choir of Boys and Adults sings at the 10 am Mass when scheduled and at diocesan events. The choir leads sung prayer in Advent “Lessons and Carols” and in Lent “Tenebrae”.

Music Ministry: Holy Family Gospel Choir

Praise the Lord with a Gospel beat at the 8:30 am Mass on Sundays. If you are interested in singing in the choir, contact Sharon Harris 413-788-6822 or cell 413-427-9664.

Music Ministry: Latino Chorus

Praise the Lord with a Latin beat weekly on Sundays at the 11:45 Mass in Spanish. If you are interested in singing in the chorus, contact Lydia Jimenez 413-328-4516.

Outreach to homebound/hospitals/nursing homes

Be a parish visitor &/or  bring communion to those who cannot come to church. Contact the office.
