Lenten Regulations, 2026
- Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are days of abstinence from meat as well as days of fast, when only one full meal is allowed. On days of fast, two other meatless meals may be taken according to one’s needs, but together they should not equal another full meal.
- The other Fridays of Lent are days of abstinence from meat.
- The obligation to abstain from meat begins at age fourteen (14) and does not cease.
- The obligation to fast begins at age eighteen (18) and ceases at age fifty-nine (59).
Please note:
Although the faithful may excuse themselves from fast and abstinence for a just cause, there is an obligation to substitute another penance in its place. No Catholic should lightly excuse him/herself from these Lenten obligations.

- El Miércoles de Ceniza y el Viernes Santo son días de ayuno y abstinencia de carne, en los que solo se permite una comida completa. En días de ayuno, se pueden tomar dos comidas sin carne según las necesidades de la persona, pero juntas no deberían equivaler a otra comida completa.
- Todos los viernes de Cuaresma son días de abstinencia de carne.
- La obligación de abstenerse de la carne comienza a los catorce (14) años y no cesa.
- La obligación de ayunar comienza a los dieciocho (18) años y termina a los cincuenta y nueve (59).

Teaching on the Sacrament of Confession: March 18 and March 19, 2026 (7:00 p.m.)
Fr. Gary will give a teaching on Confession on 2 different evenings – Wednesday, March 18 and Thursday, March 19. Both at 7pm in the Bishop Marshall Center. Please note that they are the same talk each night. Giving people the opportunity to choose a more convenient evening. This is a very important teaching – it is a matter of life and death. Come and join us and bring your family and friends to learn more about this great sacrament of healing.

El Padre Gary impartirá una enseñanza sobre la Confesión en dos tardes diferentes: el miércoles 18 de marzo y el jueves 19 de marzo, ambas a las 7:00pm en el Centro Bishop Marshall. Starting at 1:00p.m. on Friday, April 10th and ending at 1:00p.m. on Saturday, April 11th. The Blessed Sacrament will be exposed on the altar for adoration and priests will be available for confession at every hour of the day and night during these 24 hours. Sign up at the Cathedral church.
