Altar Servers (adult and youth)

The Cherubim is a group who clean the church every two months on Saturdays 9-11 am. Volunteers are always welcome. Coordinated by Paul Evans. Call 781-3656.

Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist

Greeters (Ministers of Hospitality)

Help welcome people to the Cathedral for Mass or special events by distributing a music book or other handout for that event. Contact the Parish Office or a greeter at Mass.

Food Pantry

The Food Pantry is open on Wednesdays 9-11 am (except in August). Donations of nonperishable food may be dropped off on the weekend in church after all the Masses or during the week after the 12:10 daily Mass. If you are in need of food, enter from the parking lot rear door of the Cathedral. Coordinated by Paul Evans and Edwin King.

Soup Kitchen

Volunteers cook and serve meals once every two months at South Congregational Church, Springfield at 4pm on a designated Saturday with a team from St. Michael's. Volunteers are always welcome. Coordinated by John Korona. Please call the rectory for more information.

Take and Eat

The goal of this group is to help fill the weekend void of the public Meals on Wheels program by preparing and delivering Saturday hot dinners to about 100 people. Approximately 40 volunteers are divided into teams who shop, cook, bake, pack and deliver. This group meets on the third Satuday of the month at 9am in the Bishop Marshall Center kitchen. Knitting Ministry

If you knit or would like to learn, join the Knitting Ministry which meets the fourth Monday at 7pm in the rectory from September through June. Prayer Shawls are created and fellowship shared. If you know of someone who might be going through a difficult time and might appreciate the comfort of a prayer shawl, contact Sr. Eileen Sullivan 413-452-0842.

Music Ministry: Cathedral Choir of Boys and Adults

The choir is open by audition to any adult or boy throughout the diocese. The choir strives to keep God as the center of worship, to serve our bishop, the Diocese and all who enter the Cathedral church.

The Cathedral Choir of Boys and Adults sings at the 10 am Mass when scheduled and at diocesan events. The choir leads sung prayer in Advent "Lessons and Carols" and in Lent "Tenebrae".

Music Ministry: Latino Chorus

Praise the Lord with a Latin beat weekly on Sundays at the 11:45 Mass in Spanish. If you are interested in singing in the chorus, contact Lydia Jimenez 413-328-4516.

Outreach to homebound/hospitals/nursing homes

 Volunteers are always needed to be a parish visitor or to bring communion to those who cannot come to church.  If you know of people who would appreciate a visit or having communion brought to them, please contact Sr. Eileen Sullivan, SSJ, 413-452-0842.

Youth Ministry

St. Michael's Youth Group is open to middle school through college-aged youth for fun and faith activities. Fun activities include movies, games, picnics and retreats with other youth groups. Faith is infused through devotionals such as group rosary recitation, Stations of the Cross and liturgical ministry at Mass. Email:
